Taiwan has elected Mr. Ma as it’s new president. In Taiwan, politics are an extremely sensitive subject and when discussed with friends, conversations can quickly become heated arguments. So many people are hesitant to share their ideas unless they are completely surrounded by like thinking friends. Although many people did not want to discuss who they supported in the election, I was able to learn a lot from this last political election about Taiwan and some of the two primary party’s history. It was very interesting to see how things managed to work out through all the speculation and rumors surrounding the election time. A couple of the major campaign platforms dealt with Taiwan’s economics and relations with China. Both parties promised how they wanted to somehow improve relations with China (obviously appearing a little different), but now we will see if those connections will be established and how they will ultimately change Taiwan. Please continue to pray for Taiwan and Mr. Ma as it will change leadership this May.
