Hello from “Cheng Bao”! That means “the castle” in chinese, which Julie and I thought was a fitting name for our apartment since we have come to realize (with the help of some friends) that our apartment bedroom furniture resembles that of beauty and the beast… except we don’t have a beast living here, just two beauties :) I just got done working my 3rd night of teaching English. I was the first to start my job (a week ago monday) and have trained at an accelerated pace (one week, instead of two) because they needed me to start and take over my classes this week! So far teaching has had it’s ups and downs. I will be the first to admit that I have been overwhelmed and a bit stressed a lot of the last week, but every day is getting better as I learn more and gain more confidence. Just tonight was the first night I thought “wow, I really might love this job”! Don’t get me wrong, I know there will be many more challenges to come, but I am excited to face them!

On a lighter note, Julie and I bought a scooter a couple days ago. She was a bargain at 9000 NT (about 300 dollars), and we decided to name here Silvey because of her shiny silver color (I know, we are so creative). It has been SO great to have a scooter! Simply the freedom of being able to go places when we want and not having to ride the bus anymore to work is reason enough, but on top of that Silvey is actually really fun to drive, especially once you get the hang of the crazy scooter driving rules around here (oh wait, there aren’t really any rules.. that anyone follows anyways)

Also, Julie and I have decided to study Chinese starting next Monday and Eric has decided to study Taiwanese- we are all very excited to get started on that!!!! On a last random note, Julie and I are having our first get together with new friends at our apt. this friday.. and guess what we are planning on playing? Nertz!!! If you don’t know what that is… then you need to learn soon!

Wow, that really got long, I guess I should post more often so I don’t have so much to say :) Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers. We can already see God guiding our steps here as we continue to trust in Him. Here is a link to an album if you want to see pics of our apt. and first couple weeks: http://ku.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2069126&l=27090&id=16803988.
