No fireworks this year!  It is obviously way to cold in MN to be lighting off fireworks… and the firemen probably would also have a fit!  Chinese New Year without fireworks seems like an oxymoron.  Although, CNY is not about fireworks, but mostly about family and friends reuniting each year for a celebration.  It has been great to celebrate with many friends in CO, TX, and MN over the past couple of weeks!  While I was in CO I was able to spend the new year eating hot pot with new Taiwanese friends in the area (as well as brush-up on my Mandarin skills!).  In TX, I met many new friends!  Back in MN, the Chinese Church had a party for families to get together for food, songs, and hope in Jesus as our savior for the new year!  So even though we can’t shoot off the fireworks (and I don’t mind avoiding the cold), I have been encouraged to start another year following Jesus with many good friends!
