This last saturday Julie and I were invited to attend the wedding of a christian Tawainese couple. We were very excited to see what that would look like and to experience the cultural aspect of it. The ceremony was on the smaller side- I would guess about 80 people. It took place in a beautiful, but cozy sanctuary on the bottom floor of an apartment building that was funded and just recently built by a house church that was started about 10 years ago by members of the hokkien harvest ministry. They wanted to expand to have a real church sanctuary, and a lot of the church leaders also live in the apartments above the sanctuary, so it is a real neat set up. It was so encouraging to see how this church body has progressed, and to see their dedication to continued growth. I have no idea how they managed to fund and build this building, but it speaks a huge testimony to their dedication and willingness to sacrifice. The ceremony of the wedding was beautiful, and even though I couldn’t literally understand the words being spoken (it was all in chinese), I felt the bride and groom’s love for each other and the love of those in attendance for them. I also felt God’s presense and blessing over the union, which is an amazing feeling, and makes me so excited for their future. Then the reception was at a nearby restaurant/hotel and it was a lot bigger and included more traditional Taiwanese traditions. The meal included 12 courses that just kept coming and coming, and then 3 different desserts… so needless to say we were stuffed by the time we left. And then they sent us home with leftovers!!!! Overall, it was a great experience, and so encouraging to see God working in the lives of this couple and their church.
Here are a couple pics!

Roger and I enjoyed attending a Mexican Wedding when we went to Puebla last summer so we understand your excitement! We are really enjoying all your pictures and reports. The trip into the mountains was utterly AWESOME! Thankyou for making us feel like we are right there with you. It makes it so much easier to pray when we can picture you in your surroundings! God Bless you so much!
