Once a week, I participate in a Bible study in English after I finish work. It is a way that we can share the Bible with people that are interested or want to practice English. At the beginning of the evening, we all sing songs in English and have a small English lesson that usually involves everyone to participating. Sometimes we are moving around the room during a practice quiz or sharing a phrase in English…like: “a fish out of water” or “a whale of a job.” Most of the miny lessons are phrases that are fun to use in everyday language. After the first hour we split into the study groups. As a group, we all study different people in the Bible and the characteristics that they had…like Jonah and his obedience/disobedience to go rebuke the city. Everyone shares and reads in English. The group has questions that we discuss similar to topical studies. But the part of the evening that I enjoy most is when we pray. God makes beautiful sounds through the prayer of the Taiwanese. They share exactly what they are thinking and desiring to express to God. (Most of the time it is hard to get a volunteer, but when finally someone gets enough courage it is amazing!) The prayers are so simple, because their language is so limited, but their worship is so deep and it is some of the best worship that I have ever experienced (I always can not wait to worship with them again).
