Rachel and I had the opportunity to spend Saturday night and all day Sunday with one of the families on our ministry team. The Minnich’s have 3 very active boys around the ages of 2, 6, and 8. And the reason that we spent the night with them was because their dad was out of town (and when I say out of town, I mean out of the country as he was in Japan for a teacher’s conference). So, we, along with our Taiwanese friend Kate, got to help out with the boys, playing games, putting the boys to bed, watching the boys during the Taiwanese house church, and some baby-sitting/while I went to CostCo with Mary Agnes. The boys, who are generally quite obedient, were very difficult and disobedient throughout the weekend. So, God definitely knew ahead of time that Mary Agnes would need some extra help and it worked out well that the 3 of us could be there to help her. Pretty sure that we all came away super exhausted and deciding that we don’t ever want to have kids. Ok, so maybe not that extreme, but it was definitely a reality check about the responsibility of having kiddos. But, all in all, it was a great opportunity to serve some of our “family” here in Taiwan.
