I can always tell when I am remembering and understanding more Taiwanese when I can go to the market and speak a bit with the people. There is one man in particular that I regularly buy fruit from that is thrilled to find me studying Taiwanese. He quizzes me each time I stop at his stand. He generally has his fruit truck parked on an intersection that I pass while I return home from morning classes. Today, I stopped and purchased some mangoes and bananas from him and again he quizzed me, but also he had me quiz him on his knowledge of English around the fruit truck. I told him not bad,not bad! He liked it a lot. It is encouraging to be able to continually make friends with the Taiwanese, and especially exciting to people able to converse a little with them in their language. Please pray for the people that I come in contact with and also that my language continues to improve, so that I can share Jesus without a translator!
