The Changhua Navigator Center is located in the middle of a neighborhood on the Northeast side of the NCUE campus. The neighborhood consists of many old residents, shops, and markets; many of these buildings and stores have been servicing this community since the beginning of the NCUE campus and influx of students. The building resides on a small alley and a five minute walk directly to the campus main gate.
The basement is a gift from God. Very few, if any, Taiwanese home buildings have basements, let alone a double basement big enough to fit nearly 80+ chairs and a couple other floors able to accommodate overflow as the church grows.

Wiring the church to be able to have sound and video feeds to the over flow room on the second floor and sound to the nursery/child care room on the third floor. Speakers in the upper floors will allow many more people, and families taking care of children, feel welcome to join us to worship each week.

Each Sunday afternoon for the past month, the church has been meeting to pray and approach God for his direction on how to proceed along each step. This has been a blessing to all of us as we grow in dependence on God through many of the steps he is leading. It has also helped us as we have been able to repent from any person pride, or selfishness, in the process and seek and fight for unity together as a church in following God together.
Last night was our first meeting together at the new building! We remembered Jesus’ life and death on the cross through the sharing of Chaoron. He illustrated the importance of Jesus’ sacrifice and the hope we have together in our new life. Please pray for many students who heard the Scriptures shared last night about Jesus that Spirit will continue to work in their hearts as they continue to know Him.
Our group meeting together for the first time for Good Friday 2010!
Mike, missionary pastor in Kaoshiung, recently shared with me some contact and website information to help people get connect with the church in Kaohsiung. Please continue to pray for the church plant as God reaches new believers and Christians looking for fellowship in the city.

20 Years of History at NCUE
After 20 years of meeting in the same location for the NCUE Navigator student fellowship, we will be moving to our new meeting location on LiSing Rd in a few weeks. This semester we are asking God for many things throughout our fellowship: restoration through the Gospel, new freshmen, more guys, understanding as we dig into the Bible, and a better practice of prayer are just a few. Last Friday, Dan brought us together for prayer in seeking and responding to God as he reveals himself to us through Isaiah 40. We pray for the next 20 years to continually be waiting on the Lord as we follow him and depend on him for all our strength, so he can reveal his everlasting greatness through our fellowship to the community of NCUE and Changhua.
The Navigators calling focuses on the advancement of the Kingdom of God. This semester the NCUE Nav students have a desire to share their relationship with Jesus with their families, dorm friends, and classmates. Over the past two weeks, we have been digging into the Gospel. Asking questions like: What is the Gospel? What do we often incorrectly make the Gospel to be? What is God’s mission? How do we fit into His mission? Why do we want to share? How does the Gospel continue to work in our lives after we believe in Jesus as our Savior? What are some Biblical examples of people sharing their faith?—As we discussed this as a group and practiced testimonies, we all shared in a renewed passion to share Jesus. We also saw God speak to our hearts as the Gospel continued to work in us by shinning light on the dark areas of life. It is incredible refreshing to live in the light of the Gospel instead of trying to personally carry the weight of sin!
As we share Jesus’ life, please pray that the Gospel with make great advancements in Changhua through the lives of the students. Please pray for us to share with God’s boldness and strength, so people will be able to see Christ and know him as their Savior and Lord.
You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s master stroke, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did –Jesus crucified.
I was unsure of how to go about this, and felt totally inadequate was scared to death, if you want the truth of it and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else. But the Message came through anyway. God’s Spirit and God’s power did it, which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God’s power, not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else. (1 Corinthians 2:1-5, The Message)
The earthquakes that occurred yesterday were larger than the common weekly tremors. Taiwan usually has several smaller earthquakes each week mostly isolated to the east near Hualien County. Yesterday’s earthquakes were on the west side of the island which immediately draws attention due to the majority of the population resides on this western strip of land. Thankfully there has been no deaths from the quake, but as always many people are anxious there may be another larger quake looming on the horizon.

You are writing a Gospel, a chapter each day,
by the deeds that you do and the words that you say.
Men read what you write — distorted or true;
What is the Gospel according to you?
Who Are These Like Stars Appearing
Heinrich T. Schenk
—
Who are these like stars appearing,
These before God’s throne who stand?
Each a golden crown is wearing;
Who are all this glorious band?
Alleluia! hark, they sing,
Praising loud their heav’nly King.
Who are these of dazzling brightness,
These in God’s own truth arrayed,
Clad in robes of purest whiteness,
Robes whose lustre ne’er shall fade,
Ne’er be touched by time’s rude hand?
Whence come all this glorious band?
These are they who have contended
For their Saviour’s honor long,
Wrestling on till life was ended,
Foll’wing not the sinful throng;
These, who well the fight sustained,
Triumph through the Lamb have gained.
These are they whose hearts were riven,
Sore with woe and anguish tried,
Who in prayer full oft have striven
With the God they glorified;
Now, their painful conflict o’er,
God has bid them weep no more.
These like priests have watched and waited,
Off’ring up to Christ their will;
Soul and body consecrated,
Day and night to serve him still:
Now in God’s most holy place
Blest they stand before his face.
This photo album has photos selected from different locations throughout Taiwan. I expect to have more photos as I have future opportunities to visit friends and places around the island. Many of the photos do very little justice to the beauty of Taiwan’s scenic destinations which really need to be personally explored to fully absorb all the beauty!
God has been completely involved since the beginning as our church as now successfully found a new place to rent. He confirmed our need to move when the landlord appeared one day at our current location to announce his desire to sell. He guided us through the search process through difficult times of faith when it seemed impossible to find any building near the university suitable to host more than a hundred people. He gave a location closer to the NCUE main gates than our current location. He is now providing through people the ability to renovate a few things in the new building. He is working in the hearts of our church members through these steps and is starting to work in the heart of our new landlord also.
Thank you everyone who has showered this impossible task and unimaginable outcome in prayer. It has been the platform on which we have been able to see first hand God working for his name’s sake! We are now praying forward over the next few months as we finalize lease agreements, small renovations and installations, and moving. Our church hopes to complete the moving process and come together to worship for the first time in the new location for Easter 2010.
134 LiSing Rd

Please continue to shower the new location in prayer that God will make it a place where many people will know his salvation and learn to follow him as disciples.
Taipei brought in the 2010 new year by lighting the 101 building off like a roman candle. The 101 building already dominates the city’s other major high-rises, so adding the fireworks to the building makes for a spectacular show. The theme this year was “Taiwan Up.” In Changhua, it was a much different story… I am pretty sure there are no buildings much larger than twenty stories, although there were a lot of private fireworks being ignited around the streets and on Bagua Mountain, nothing accumulating to the millions of people around the 101. None the less, the new year has come! There are many things to praise God for in 2009, even through the end of the year as he provided a new location for our church to rent (even closer to the university than our current location) and life of many newborns and new believers! As a church, we brought in the new year together with friends and in prayer for what God will bring in the coming year. This year, we want to live “Seeking the Face of God” together in Changhua and learning to daily walk like Jesus so many more will look “Up” to the face of God and praise his name throughout Taiwan!
